Kyle Hayton is ECAC Goaltender of the Week Again
"Dec. 16: St. Lawrence University sophomore goaltender Kyle Hayton was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season following a 41-save, 4-1 win over the University of Vermont on Saturday night.
Hayton's 41 saves were the most in the nation for a Division I goaltender in a single game last weekend and his .976 save percentage for the game ranked fourth nationally.
The ECAC Rookie of the Year last season, Hayton has six ECAC weekly awards to his credit in a season and a half of competition. He also earned Rookie of the Month honors for the ECAC in November, December and February of last season.
He currently has a 1.85 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in 905 minutes and is 11th nationally in both categories.
Hayton has helped the Saints to a 10-5-2 record at the season's midpoint, the best since the 2005-06 team went 11-5-1. The current Saint team is the only one beside that team to be in double digits in wins at the 17-game mark since 1998-99.
The Saints ranked 15th in the USCHO poll and14th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll are 11th in the nation in scoring margin at 1.12 goals per game and are tied for ninth in scoring defense at 2.00 and are 16th in scoring offense at 3.12 goals per game. The Saint penalty kill is ranked 11th at 87.8 percent.
SLU is off for exams and the holidays and will complete the non-league portion of its schedule when it returns to action at Appleton Arena against Northeastern on Jan. 8-9."
